FIRST BANK

They have 100 questions, but the time is very short.

The first part is a long comprehension, which one could possibly spend at least 15 minutes on. It has only 10 questions. This part is time consuming, avoid starting on this part. People who started on the first section didn't finish up to 60 questions at the end of the test.

The second part is English (Verbal reasoning). It requires a bit of thinking, although it's fairly easy. Don't start here as well.

The third part is Math. They are simple as well, but the chances are that you might spend over 1 minute working out each answer. If the format is as before, you are also advised not to start with this.

The fourth part is on Current Affairs, with a multiple answer style. This is easier and you spend lesser time.

The fifth (final) part is on Critical reasoning. This is also very easy.

It is a maximum of 60mins or 80mins. You will only use writing materials like pencil, eraser and maybe a pen. Calculators are usually not allowed and you will be provided a plain sheet to work out your answers.

1.   The total cost for five items of repair work on a car was N195,000.  Overhaul of the carburetor cost twice as much as the tune-up, brake pads cost one-third as much as the carburetor overhaul, and alignment and wheel balancing each cost one-third as much as the tune-up.  What did the tune-up cost?

      A.  N30,000

      B.   N45,000

      C.  N60,000

      D.  N90,000

      E.   One cannot tell from the given data.

2.   David killed Goliath with only a single stone. If David had taken with him a supply of a hundred stones, then he would have been able to defeat the entire opposing army. Which of the following, if true would most strengthen the above argument?

(A)             Goliath was the most difficult member of the opposing army to defeat

(B)              The opposing army would have advanced too quickly for David to have the opportunity to use more than 10 stones

(C)              Goliath was significantly larger and more powerful than David

(D)             David was significantly larger and more powerful than Goliath

(E)              The  opposing army had fewer than 100 soldiers

3.         A guard dog from Acme Dogs will assume an alert position and will begin barking every time she hears the footsteps of a person walking toward the owner's house.  Therefore anyone with a guard dog from Acme Dogs should feel very secure at home because the dog will warn the owner if an intruder approaches. This conclusion makes which of the following assumptions?

(A)                A dog from Acme Dogs would provide good protection after an intruder enters the house

(B)              A dog from Acme Dogs will hear any intruder who approaches

(C)              A dog from Acme Dogs has received special training as a guard dog

(D)             The speaker lives in a dangerous area

(E)              Some intruders may not be people
